Your first day in the firm - in the Summer program or as an actual associate...
How will you manage conflicting deadlines? Mistakes? Social firm events?
What if you can't turn in an assignment before the deadline?
While you do have a quota for mistakes, it is limited, and associates are decidedly not evaluated solely based on the quality of their work.
Learn the practical ins and outs of work in the firm.
First of all, a law firm functions in many respects differently from traditional companies:
1. Up-or-out. You are given a limited time to prove yourself. If you don't, you're out.
2. Sink or swim. If you are not able to 'attract' enough work, you may well start to sink.
3. Daily work often consists of delegation chains with tight deadlines, where you are dependent on 'catching' tasks skillfully and return top quality work. This is not always easy.
Dont`t be miserable just because you don`t know how to play the game.
